How EcoHealth Alliance and the Wuhan Institute of Virology Collaborated on a Dangerous Bat Coronavirus Project

DRASTIC was recently made aware of documents provided by a whistleblower, which show that EcoHealth Alliance (EHA) in concert wIth the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) attempted to carry out advanced and dangerous human pathogenicity Bat Coronavirus research that would clearly qualify as Gain of Function (GoF), in a grant proposal submitted to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in 2018.

Summary:
Peter Daszak and the EcoHealth Alliance (EHA) proposed injecting deadly chimeric bat coronaviruses collected by the Wuhan Institute of Virology into humanised and “batified” mice.
The EHA / WIV proposal (named ‘DEFUSE’) was ultimately rejected for full funding (but leaving open the door for partial funding), in part because it mis-interpreted the GOF guidelines.
In other words, a branch of the federal government had already judged aspects of EHA’s research, and the corresponding shared research plan with the WIV, as falling under the definition of GOF, only for HHS to approve similar work without P3CO review in 2018 and 2019.
The documents seen by DRASTIC were made available by an anonymous source. They detail past achievements and planned experiments in collaboration with researchers from Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV), East China Normal University (ECNU), UNC-Chapel Hill, Duke-National University in Singapore, the USGS National Wildlife Health Center (NWHC) and Palo Alto Research Center (PARC).

The grant proposal includes some elements of research that are already public via scientific papers, as well as other elements that have never been made public, including vaccinating wild bats using aerosolized viruses and further work on published and unpublished strains that could have directly produced SARS-CoV-2.
These grant proposal documents also show a staggering level of deep involvement of EHA with the WIV, on matters of national interest (such as DURC), for instance by proposing that the DARPA grant pays a good chunk of key WIV researchers salaries, or that some of these researchers should be invited to DARPA headquarters in Arlington. All the while without proper risk assessment and considerations for ethical and social issues and incorrect evaluation of what constitutes GoF research.

You guys are some of the only people who still actually remember what science is.
Somehow even science and medical professionals have convinced themselves that dogma is “The Science.” “Science” that ironically cannot be questioned.
If not for your work, the media-industrial complex would still be accusing anyone who raised the question a propagandist, a fringe extremist, or an anti-science bigot.
Science, the tool for questioning reality, is now pure propaganda—a cudgel to be used against the not-as-educated populace, the working-class, and any professionals that weren’t susceptible to this mass hysteria/mass formation psychosis/hyper political correctness.
There will be human rights trials before this is over.
There’s a special place in hell for all of the doctors that betrayed the Hippocratic oath, letting themselves fall victim to groupthink.

Astounding. Not so astounding as to become a continuing news item in the corporate press. Afterall, what’s so spectacular about a possibly man-made Pandemic killing some five-million people, and infecting 242,000,000? … By the way, as an editorial suggestion, — ditch the standalone acronyms. Spell out each word with first-letter upper-case, as a means of informing readers through repetition. Each mention of EcoHealth Alliance (EHA) and Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV), for ex, should include both the acronym and the spelled-out word next to each other.
